    Aspire Breeze Review

    Aspire Breeze Review

    Hey Savages!

Today we are going to review the Breeze by Aspire! You can also click here to watch the entire review on YouTube.

For this review we picked up the Breeze kit, which includes:

    • spare O-rings
    • instruction booklet
    • warranty card
    • micro USB charging cord
    • 2 coil heads

The Breeze is an all-in-one kit & it is not a pod system. To insert the coil & fill the tank, just pull off the mouth piece to reveal 2 metal pieces. The taller metal piece is what you need to unscrew, so on the bottom of the mouthpiece there's a straight metal edge that you use to begin unscrewing the tall metal piece. You'll then install the coil on the bottom of the chimney. The hole in the device that's left when you've taken out the chimney/coil is where you'll put the juice. On the side there's a window with a red horizontal line- fill the tank with juice up to that red line only & then insert the chimney with the coil, screw in, put the mouthpiece back on, & wait 2 minutes. Then you're ready to vape!

The Breeze is compact & easily fits into your hand, pocket, purse, etc. & the juice we used (Blue Razzleberry Pomegranate) tastes great. The fire button is a small black button on the front that's easy to locate. It takes 5 clicks to turn on & 5 clicks to turn off, which is simple & pretty standard. This device is a good option for someone who wants to vape anywhere from 3-12mg's. Since this isn't a pod system, we would not recommend using nic salts.

Overall, this is a great device! We highly recommend the Breeze for anyone- especially anyone who is new to vaping & just quitting smoking.

That's all we have for today! Thanks so much for reading & remember to #StaySavage!

    Mate1 Review

    Mate1 Review

    Hey Savages!

Today we will be reviewing the Mate1 kit by Vapeccino. You can also click here to watch the review on YouTube.

For this review we picked up the kit, which includes:

    • the battery
    • 2 blue rubber stoppers
    • instruction booklet
    • 1 refillable pod
    • 1 micro USB charging cable

Take the pod & the battery out of their boxes. The pod is refillable, so you get to choose what e-liquid you vape! To fill the pod, you'll pull out the blue rubber stopper to reveal a small hole & this is where you'll fill the pod. Once you're finished filling the pod, push the blue stopper back into the hole. Let the pod sit for 5-8 minutes so that you don't burn the coil.

Now you can insert the pod into the battery! Something we love about this pod system is that the pod clicks into the battery, & then the device vibrates to indicate that you're ready to vape. It is draw activated, so once the pod is inserted to the battery you just inhale to vape!

What we like about it: The Mate1 is the perfect pocket size & fits easily in your hand. It uses a traditional micro USB charger that you can just plug in to the bottom of the device which is very convenient. There's also a small circular light at the bottom of the battery that indicates when you're vaping, when it needs to charge, & when it's charging. Another great aspect of this pod system is that you can vape mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, & it does both very well. The kit does only come with 1 pod so you'll need to pick up more, but that's pretty standard with any open pod system.

What we aren't crazy about: The blue rubber stopper. It's not attached to the pod at all & it's so small that it could easily get lost.

Overall, we would definitely recommend this device! It's affordable ($20-$30) & so are pods (about $7 for 2), it's compact, & the taste of our e-liquid is great.

That's all we have for today! Thanks for reading & remember to #StaySavage!

    T-Priv Kit Review

    T-Priv Kit Review

    Hey Savages!

Today we are going to review the T-Priv Kit by Smok! We also have a video of the review which you can watch here 🙂

For this review we picked up the kit, & inside you'll find:

    • T-Priv mod
    • instruction booklet
    • battery safety card
    • certificate of authenticity
    • extra o-rings
    • extra coil
    • micro USB charging cable
    • vape bands (to protect the tank from breaking)
    • Big Baby tank
    • spare glass (for the tank)

The Big Baby tank is a basic sub-ohm situation. It comes fully assembled in the kit so really all that you need to do is unscrew the bottom piece (ours is silver, but the color of the tank pieces will depend on what color mod you have) to prime the coil that sits within the bottom piece, & then you screw it back on to the tank. The top part of the tank (the part with the drip tip) has a feature where you can slide over a small door to reveal a kidney shaped hole & this is where you can fill the tank.

On to the mod! It's a dual 18650 mod, meaning you'll need 2 18650 batteries in order to make the mod work. There's a door at the bottom that you'll open to access the battery, & the battery orientation that's required to make the device work is clearly marked. Once the batteries are placed inside in the correct orientation & you click the door shut, the mod will light up to indicate that you're almost ready to vape!

Note: If the batteries are not inserted correctly the mod will not light up or turn on.

On the mod there is a black bar that takes up an entire side- this is the fire button. Or fire bar, really. You'll push this bar 5 times in succession to turn on the device. The screen is a small black area at the top of the mod that will light up when the device is activated. Once the screen turns on you'll be able to see a few numbers & pictures that indicate the wattage, battery power, ohms, volts, & the number 0.0. The 0.0 at the bottom of the screen will tell you how long your puff is.

If you click the fire bar 3 times you'll be taken to the menu. After the 3 clicks you'll see "Mode" then you click the fire bar again & see "Puff," click, "Color," click, "Settings," click, "Power," click again & you're back to "Mode."

When you get to "Mode" press & hold the fire bar to open that menu option. When the option is opened you'll see an option for "Watt" & then if you press the fire bar again the option "Temp" will appear. For now we will stick with "Temp." Press & hold the fire bar to bring up a "Strength" option. This is where you can adjust the wattage using the 2 small black buttons on the side below the screen. Use the left button to bring the wattage down & use the right button to bring the wattage up. If you press & hold the fire bar again you can choose what kind of coil you're using. Press & hold again for more adjustments within the coil option.

If you click through the menu again & go to the "Color" option, you can click through an array of different colors that will light up throughout the device. You can also choose how often you want the lights to turn on, when they turn on, whether they flash or fade, & if you want them off altogether.

There are so many more options for this device & I would recommend watching our video to view all of the things!

What we like about the T-Priv: the LED lights are neat, the large fire bar is easy to use, & the device is well-made.

What don't like about the T-Priv: the up/down buttons are pretty small, the menu system is generally pretty easy to understand but it's still very complex & unnecessary for our needs, the instruction booklet is not clear or does not address how to navigate through the menu, the screen placement is strange (but we do understand why they chose that location), & the LEDs are cool but they don't serve a particularly important purpose for us.

Most of what we don't like about this device is purely based on personal preference & it's not due to any failure on the part of Smok. Overall, this is a pretty good option for anyone who vapes. It has a reasonable price point ($40-$50) & gets the job done with some pretty great features.

That's all we have for today! Thank you so much for reading & remember to #StaySavage!

    S8 Pod Starter Kit Review

    S8 Pod Starter Kit Review

    Hey Savages!

Today we are going to review the S8 Pod Starter Kit by Smoant! If you want to watch the video you can click here!

First of all, I want to give a shout out to to Smoant. They reached out to us via comment on one of our blogs & then sent us a FREE one to review! How amazing is that?! Thank you Smoant!

For this review we had the starter kit which includes:

    • instructions for how to refill it
    • owner's manual
    • tips & tricks insert
    • certificate of authenticity
    • battery
    • 1 refillable pod
    • USB charging cable (this cable is a typical micro USB that looks strange, but you can use it with a regular USB port)
    • needle nose-tipped bottle

When you pull the device out of the kit, the pod is already placed on to the battery. In order to fill the pod with juice you'll pull the pod off of the battery. There is a white sticker at the bottom of the pod that reads "Remove this sticker!" & you'll remove it. Once you take the sticker off you can fill the pod by gently pulling back the black rubber grommet to expose a hole where you can put in the juice of your choice. If the juice of your choice doesn't come in a bottle with a small enough dropper, you can utilize the needle nose-tipped bottle that comes in the kit (which is a really thoughtful feature!) Once the pod is full, securely replace the grommet & pop the pod onto the battery. Wait 5-8 minutes (so that you don't burn the cotton!) & then you're ready to vape!

Note: This is a draw-activated device. That means you don't have to press any buttons- you just inhale to vape!

What we love about the S8? The airflow is great, the taste of the juice is on point, it's very similar to the Suorin Air (which we adore), it's size is compact & easy to hold, the overall design is very clean, & the juice is clearly visible in the pod.

What don't we love about the S8? The charging cable (which confused Brittany so she threw it away), the kit only comes with 1 pod, the lights (the blue light that turns on when activated, the red light that turns on when the battery needs to be charged) are located under the pod & are draw activated so that they are difficult to see unless you quickly check after you vape.

Overall, this is a great pod system & we approve. Even though there are things we don't like we will gladly vape the S8 all day, every day.

That's all for today! Thanks for reading & remember to #StaySavage!

The FDA v. The Vape Industry

The FDA v. The Vape Industry

    Hey Savages!

I (Kathryn) had a brief exchange with one of our Twitter followers (@redfoxvapes) today about YouTube shutting down or hiding videos by vape reviewers & vape enthusiasts that prompted me to dig a little deeper & see what I could find. What I found stirred up some emotions & opinions that I would like to share, & I would like to know what y'all think.

I listened to the WBUR "On Point" segment published on April 5, 2018 which you can listen to here. Apparently there was an earlier version in which the hosts discussed a teen who created a YouTube video that actually turned out to be Abby Vapes, a not-teenage woman who posts vape reviews & videos, but that version was taken down. At any rate, my understanding is that the main issue that is being brought to the table is the use of the JUUL by underage kids. In the segment I heard the hosts consulting a doctor who expressed concern about the addictive nature of the JUUL & how it's an "epidemic" among students that may lead to more serious addictions. I have opinions.

First, what? Is the JUUL considered the new "gateway drug" as marijuana once was? Is this the Reefer Madness of 2018? If y'all will remember, Reefer Madness was a film meant to scare people away from marijuana by depicting the people who smoked it doing weird stuff that I've never seen anyone do unless they had just done cocaine (& even that's a stretch). I am quite honestly shocked that the JUUL is very specifically the target of fear right now. Aren't we facing an opioid crisis? Aren't children & adults alike dying from overdoses every hour in our country? Aren't doctors randomly prescribing opiates to quell pain that an Extra Strength Tylenol could fix? Not long ago I went the doctor with the flu. What was I prescribed despite being adamant that I DO NOT take opiates of any kind? Vicodin. VICODIN. What? I tore the prescription up right in front of that doctor & told him to give me some Tamiflu or something because he clearly was not listening to my words.

Perhaps I'm biased because I am an adult who does not have kids, but I am blind to my bias. I have worked with children since I was a 13 & I adore them. I was once a child myself. Having been a child, I know with certainty that anything an adult told me not to do I did anyway. Oh, you want me to not skip class? Not speed? Not text & drive? Not smoke cigarettes? Well, I did all those things & way more. Why? I dunno. I just did. And I could. I was not closely monitored, I went to a huge high school, I had a little beat up car, & I had time to kill. My point is that teenagers have not changed so far as I can tell & kids will always find a way to do stuff we (adults) tell them not to. To clarify, I DO NOT want children vaping & I am not an advocate of underage consumption of anything of any kind. I'm just saying that I believe there are bigger issues at hand facing our nation's children. I could be wrong though, & I'm willing to take any feedback.

Side Note: As a small part of the larger vaping community, I believe that every place should check & double-check IDs for anyone purchasing vape hardware & e-liquid. We do need to make sure that, as a community, we do not endorse underage consumption of our vape products. And I fully believe that we do a great job. Working for Savage I know that we take steps every day to ensure that we are not conversing with, selling to, or appealing to any person who is not of legal age. I believe that we do our part.

While I'm ranting, I feel that I need to touch on underage consumption of alcohol. Can I just talk about that really quick? I always found a way to obtain & consume alcoholic beverages when I was not of legal age, which I know seems like an obscure fact but just hear me out. We KNOW the damage that alcohol does to the brain, liver, kidneys, & overall health. But what's this I see as I casually drive down the 405? A billboard for Bud Light? A luxurious model holding a bottle of Skyy vodka? Nice. Again, what did that doctor prescribe me for body aches from the flu? Vicodin? Nice. What is the common prescription written for literally any kid (me) who shows any sign of defiance or energy? The equivalent of amphetamine? Nice. All of these substances are so easy to get, so easy to consume, & scientifically proven to produce harmful effects. Yet we still have access to them. We as a society still can harm, or even kill, ourselves with substances that the government deems acceptable.

The FDA is now coming down on the vape industry as a whole, putting us in the same category as tobacco & cigarettes & I simply do not agree with this conclusion. I don't. There's not enough evidence to say whether or not vaping is equally as harmful as anything else, & I think that there should be more research before the FDA comes storming in throwing around accusations & rules & talking about potential flavor bans & whatnot. Are these regulations the result of the loss of money of powerful people because Big Tobacco is losing money? I'm not sure, but if I'm free to breathe in the heinous air of Downtown LA (which kills my lungs every time I go) then I would like the freedom to vape. If I have the freedom to purchase & smoke cigarettes, then I would like the freedom to vape. If I have the freedom to obtain Vicodin for my flu, then I would like the freedom to vape. If I have the freedom to buy a drink at the bar, then I would like the freedom to vape. And I want the freedom to  vape flavorful e-juices that taste good.

These are my opinions & I would love to hear what you think. Am I off-base? Is there a piece of the bigger picture that I'm not seeing? Am I so right that you literally can't even right now? Let me know! We want to hear from you!

P.S. There is a multiple choice survey by CASAA that is meant to collect data for the open comment period for the FDA's proposed flavor ban & you have the opportunity for YOUR voice to be heard! Click here to participate in the survey!
